The Secret Language of Feelings

Stress and negative emotions are not just in our head, they are in every part of our body. We don't understand or like the way these negative emotions feel, so we try to ignore them by distracting ourselves from them. Smoking, drinking, eating, ect. are just a few examples of how we try to do this. When we are done distracting we will go back to feeling bad, because we have not fulfilled the need, want, or desire that the feeling was telling us needed our attention. If we keep up this pattern of feeling bad, distracting it becomes a habit. If we continue this habit long enough we end up in a downward spiral which can lead to depression. Depression means what you are doing is not working try something else.

What I can help you to do, is learn the Secret Language of feelings and how to develop a satisfying response to the emotions you are feeling, rather than continuing to distract yourself from them. Our feelings are there to help guide us through life, as long as we understand what they are trying to tell us.
